Whats up with Astor House?

Internet searchers are curious about the current status of these properties as evidenced by searches like "essex realty group clark & pratt". And as well they should be. One heck of a listing for a Realty Group to make. 30 million for five gigantic apartment buildings. Two in Uptown and three in Rogers Park. This is one of those buildings. The other buildings in Rogers Park are at Clark and Pratt at 1673 W. Pratt and 7645 N Sheridan. The Uptown buildings include the infamous Lawrence House at Lawrence and Winthrop and at 4526 N. Sheridan. Now is a good time to get photographs of this beautiful building as the vacant lot where the old synagogue once stood won't stand empty forever. There is an awning up at 1673 w Pratt  making us wonder what is going on over there. The Menettis of Park Ridge are the family who owns these five properties.

"The 13-story Astor House, at 1246 W. Pratt Blvd., a 124-unit brick and stone elevator building that is located only two blocks from Loyola University and Lake Michigan. Listed for $7.7 million, the property also is within walking distance to several CTA Red Line stations and Sheridan Road buses. Built in 1931, the Astor House features 42 studios, 78 one-bedroom units, three two-bedroom layouts, and a penthouse. Monthly rents on studios and one-bedrooms range from $400 to $770. Two bedrooms rent for $760 to $850, and the penthouse rents for $2,100. Improvements include a new rubber silver-coat roof, and newer double-pane thermal windows. Electric service and wiring has been updated with in-unit circuit breakers."
