Dimetrodon Muses Shambhala's Demise.

"Not too many more sunrises for that place" sighs the dinosaur.

This dimetrodon perched on top of the Red Eye newspaper dispenser looked especially serious the morning of the photograph. "Many years I have watched over this intersection. Just as my ancestors faced extinction so must this building." Shambhala meditation has only recently inhabited this particular house (since 1995). This past Wednesday there was a meeting concerning the plans for a four story parking garage on the site. An armed guard is to watch over the premises. Hopefully they also plan on having retail at the bottom. Sheridan could  use some retail. Its a busy street and it would promote positive foot traffic and more importantly give people a place to shop or eat. As Alderman Joe Moore has been quoted as saying  the moniker "Rogers No Park" currently fits. A parking garage would help do away with that reputation and bring in people from outside the neighborhood to visit and tour the Frank Lloyd Wright Emil Bach house.

The way I heard it, most of the parking will be for Farcroft residents.

166 spaces out of 250 reserved for the Farcroft. Thats 67 percent of the space just for the Farcroft. But thats a HUGE building and affluent people want a place to park their car where they live.

In order for a highrise of Farcroft's size to be truly luxury we have to have parking for it.

would really like to see retail at the bottom though.

So that's 84 spots left for everyone else. Not tons to do around there right now though.

Bro that Davey got his head stuck up his ass or something and don't know shit. Only 60 spots are reserved for Farcroft. He don't know what he's talking about. Even Gonzo heard that like everyone else. Bro, check out your facts first. That blond Pritzker chick Mary something was hot at the meeting. High leather boots rock. Woof.

What a terrible loss. That's where I practiced yoga for three years and learned how to hook my feet over my shoulders and lock them behind my head. I still do it every day on my lunch hour and meditate.

Had you attended the meeting you would have learned why retail space is a non-starter. There already is a surplus of unused and unsuccessful retail space elsewhere in the neighborhood. The building is a purposeful parking garage and not intended to be a multi-purpose, garage, 7-11, restaurant, nail salon, dog park, shoe store and massage center. Farcroft is going to be mid-range rental not high-end luxury condo. What Davey "heard" is totally incorrect. Either he didn't hear it or he didn't listen. Only 26% of the spaces will be for Farcroft. The rest will be for other community use that will take cars off the streets and free up on-street parking. Davey doesn't know what he is talking about.

My first pet was a Dimetrodon. She ate all my hamsters one day so I fed her to my T. rex and got some more hamsters. I don't like Dimetrodons no more.

Gonzo and Benji, take it up with Mr Rogers, who says it's 67%. Read much?
