| City Lit just wrapped up its last week in Chicago with the Cricket On The Hearth and should be relocating to Evanston soon. |
Evanston Now just posted a rendering of what could be an amazing theatre on the Evanston side of Howard. This would be located at 727-729 w Howard. The bid for this project just jumped from 600 k to now a million more, 1.6 million. This is the same kind of "animal farm" agreement that the city wrote up for Ward 8 wine bar. The city of Evanston plans to subsidize this project which is lease to own. City Lit Theatre currently resides @ 1020 w Bryn Mawr Chicago Il.
Update 1/15/13 - The theatre plan was shot down 6 to 3 by the Aldermen when put to a vote. "Alderman Ann Rainey, whose 8th Ward includes Howard Street, defended the plan, saying City Lit has been in business since 12979 and last year sold 6,000 tickets to its performances." Likely a typo as none of us living will ever see the year 12,979. We assume Evanston Now meant 1979. It appears for the time being that City Lit is now homeless.
