Mind Crusher Tattoo Shop owner Kevin Owings issued a statement today on Everyblock regarding his stickers found throughout Rogers Park on numerous street signs and light poles (including on his business'es stretch of Clark.) This has been documented photographically and was posted onto Everyblock resulting in the banishment of prominent contributer effjlnoos aka jeffo (forcing him to start his own blog Chevanston).
Excerpt from Kevin O's public statement. "I am sorry again but ,We didnt post this once again. We have stuck to our promise and have not passed out any stickers in 6 months. The last batch was green not read (sic) thats like last years stickers. So this has got to be old. Also i cant help what people do with my stickers. i am not going to fallow (sic) them to there car and make sure it gets on there. Even though that might help i have a job to do. If you remember Jeff has some personal vendetta against me."

Aaargh, the scallywag inkster denies any social responsibility to help clean up. He'd make a good pirate he would. Plunder and sail away har, har, har.
On Everyblock Mike Trollok contributor says "Kevin, don't pay too much attention, we all know that Jeff O**en hates your business and just wants to see you fail."
Incorrect Old Chap. He just wants to see the old Tattoo shop down by the warf on Clark Street to straighten up a bit. In my Tattoo Shops were rough places to hang out and but they atleast kept the are around them tidy. I like MindCrusher, I took a nice photo of their NEW NEON sign.
How dare anyone have a problem with their stickers continuing to show up all over the place. After all its just harmless fun for the kids to vandalize the neighborhood.
I guess if someone has a problem with a busines, it really just means you just want them to fail, its has nothing to do with the fact that MindCrusher contributed heavily to Sign Vandalism.
oooops I mean in my day Tattoo Shops were rough....
Steven another fine contributer on EB says "Kevin, I wouldn't worry to much about what the d*bags on EB are saying about you. They're not your audience anyway, and those of us who might be aren't thinking any less of you for what some idiots decide to do with your stickers, it's not your responsibility."
I guess because more people are disagreeing with you Steven that now the people on EB are "douchebags", before they were your bestest friends. How the times have changed. Yes Steven you've made that quite clear that now of this is anyone's responsibility. Sounds like a broken record.
oops NONE of this
@ anon 1:26, I tried that, why they heck would you think I hadn't? Thats why its reached this level, they refuse to do anything about it. Plain and Simple. Even about the sticker vandalism right outside their store and on their block. I had to take care of it.
But, Jeff, according to the owner you cursed him out in front of his kid...that's not really "trying" to connect with him and offering your help.
@anon 3:16
I cursed him in front of his kid? Thats ridiculous, it was just a phone call of someone pissed off with a local business'es advertising tactics. I guess I should assume that all people are on speakerphone with their kid with them at all times. ;)
The owner of MindCrusher has -always- stated he'd remove anything someone brings to his attention. This is biased, and incendiary, and defeats the intention of 'community'. Why you don't take this aggression and energy with street thugs doing "business" as earnestly as you battle against this legit business..truly reflects your character.
@ anon 3:53, thats not true, I was told that me posts were "dripping" with self righteousness, I was censored. I had told MindCrusher and the community at large about the stickers RIGHT BY THEIR STORE, which I shouldnt have had to do in the first place and they just laughed it off. The first picture was from September the second one was from later in October.
They dont care about Sign Vandalism at all. Have they taken down EVEN one of their stickers?
If it was MY business I would be embarrased I would work to atleast clean SOME of it up. He did NOTHING except come up with excuses and empty apologies.
Seriously? You have nothing else better to do than harass a responsible small business owner about some stickers? I wish had that much free time. You're pathetic.
You're incredible. On the phone or in person, child present or not, if you're legitimately trying to establish/continue a dialogue with someone in an effort to come to a solution about a problem, you do not curse at someone. Ever. It's unprofessional and antagonistic. A general rule of any and all communication of a business nature is that you do not ever swear. You shouldn't have to inquire as to whether or not someone is on speakerphone or if there is a child in the room because it shouldn't matter. Your language should never require moderation depending upon the circumstances of the person with whom you are speaking. Further, your obsession with "sign vandalism" is way over the top. As you said, if it were YOUR business you would do/feel/say x, y and z. Point is, it's not your business, literally. If what other people did with something created for advertising a local business bothers you so much, clean it up. The owner of the shop is not responsible for other people's actions, and the virulence with which you are repeatedly attacking this business and its owner speaks volumes about your character, not his. Personally and as a business owner, were I dealing with a similar situation and I was approached by you about the matter in the same fashion that you've demonstrated here, I wouldn't do a single thing about it, purely due to the fact that I would want absolutely nothing to do with you, your manner or your character. I certainly wouldn't want to do anything that would encourage your behavior and help you to feel as though you had "won" something, thereby encouraging you to continue these bullying tactics on myself and others in the future. If something bothers you and you've destroyed cordial dialogue between the person you believe to be responsible, fix it yourself or let it go. Either way, you are presenting yourself as a manic, controlling bully and that cannot be good for whatever your business and relationship with businesses in the community happen to be. It's nonsensical, and bordering on harassment.
@anon 4:33, its not my business, but its OUR CITY. I was pissed and I didnt like your response about the sticker vandalism. I would fully expect as a business owner to get an earful if my stickers were all over town. I would be hurt too if someone swore at me, then I would calm down and then think about what I had to do to make things right.
I am only going to post one more post about this and its going to be the Rogers Avenue Viaduct and fixing that up.
Hey we know where you stand anon 4:33 and we arent changing your mind, thats fine, that doesnt mean that we are happy with cleaning up your stickers though.
Really all this over stickers?? I lived in this area for yrs and I never thought stickers would be a such an issue
I know anon at 5pm, stickers are easily removed, easy-peasy.
I am Anon @ 4:33 - Cleaning up my stickers? I'm not from Mind Crusher, I'm not an employee of Mind Crusher. I've nothing to do with Mind Crusher. I believe you have tipped the scales towards paranoid if you believe that I am. Not every comment from someone that finds your behavior to be outrageous is from/owning/employed by Mind Crusher. Just a business owner that was directed here from a friend of a friend, told I wouldn't believe what was being posted here about a business and why. They were correct. Complete absurdity on your part.

Can you please explain what the hell that has to do with you and why it would warrant another rant about this business from you?
APhilip McGregor Rogers are you off your meds? You really need to get some kind of therapy. I feel sorry for your kid
@anon 4:33 pm
There was never anything to "win" here, I could tell that no matter what MC wouldnt help out and would stick to their original line. In the end it doesnt matter if somehow MC's feelings were "hurt", these are rough and tough tattoo guys, I think they can handle one irate phone call more than a few months ago.
