Pictures taken this morning of the soon to be energy producing Walgreens on Chicago Ave in South Evanston, Illinois. The latest article written on this groundbreaking project was by The New York Times June 4th. Over eight hundred energy panels, two wind turbines, and a geothermal heating/cooling system will help the store save and generate energy. This will be the first net zero store built anywhere. Walgreens is headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois; a major reason this store is being constructed in Evanston (so corporate can keep a close eye and help with unforeseen glitches). Thanksgiving holiday is the target date for the grand opening.

Cool.I've been wondering why this store is looking so un-Walgreen like. Encouraging to know that IL can still have something good happen.
