Movember Flyer Beats The Odds & Survives Winter

"rogersparknews Drama unfolds at Colm Treacy's Glenwood Bar following the closure of T's in Uptown. bit.ly/YVCcxc @DNAinfoCHI @BoystownTweets 41 minutes ago · reply · retweet · favorite"

The event on the flyer took place this past November at the Glenwood. Coincidentally DNAinfo.com decided to do a story on the internal shakeup inside this local tavern. T's the bar run by the same group in Uptown recently closed; Morsel and Sidecar in Rogers Park are run by the same owner as well. This is a strange article for a major news source to run especially with such vague generic details. No one famous involved or anything, would this story run in New York City? Not a chance.

What drama? The story amounts to one faction being muscled out by another, then a group of people loyal to that faction has a beef and forms a Facebook page about it. Why would a bar close just because of a staff shake up? A contrived title to the article. The internet is a bizarre place. People can form societies and movements some of which are important and some of which aren't. This story should have stayed in the Twitter Feed.

Not worth putting into a post, but it is pretty creepy to shout out at someone deceased on Twitter.

"Benjamin Woodard
Follow @benjaminwoodard
benjaminwoodard RIP @ebertchicago"

Ebert replies,
"Thanks Ben Woodard! I'm going to come over to eat you after reanimation is complete."

Jeffrey, maintain your dignity. An inconsequential "reporter", published and inconsequential story in an inconsequential online stream. Stay away from it or you will be seen as terminally inconsequential. Rise above it and keep reporting on important things unless you want to join the Boystown Beat.

One the other hand.....

What is wrong with questioning the media? It certainly needs improvement. If someone wanted to critique Chevanston and rip it to shreds that would be okay.

Mainstream media is either extremely boring or just insipid.

From time to time Chevanston reserves the right to review the media. Is that not what the Colbert Report does?

Questioning the media is what the media is all about but please do not conflate yourself with the likes of Stephen Tyrone Colbert. He, like you, is an intellectual but he also is a comedian. You are not.

Stephen would appreciate someone daring to conflate or compare himself to such an historic figure in US history.

Wasn't saying that this is a comedy site, but it is a site that will question the media from time to time.
