The previous caption "A Buddha Grows On Howard" was retired in favor of the more relevant current title after discovering that this Buddha head was moved from its previous location; future site of the Peckish One microbrewery. The last location at Callan and Howard didn't have good karma and on April Fools Day the Buddha head was hit with graffiti.
Update 4/13/13 - Here is an article from Evanston Patch with a picture of the Buddha in downtown Evanston. Seems that some Evanstonians don't venture down to the city or Rogers Park much.

Where do they sell Buddha head seeds? We are having a bumper crop this year, another popped up in the past few days (actually transplanted) on Howard at Clyde outside the beautiful Vet Center building. Hardly feels like spring today, but we must remember that April showers bring May flowers and that this rain will make later spring and early summer that much more glorious. A yellow flower has blossomed next to this latest Buddha head to emerge. The Vet Center building is a stunning specimen itself and the commercial spaces are mainly vacant but are up for lease. Perfect place for a restaurant, clothing retail or in the old days a record shop (still a viable niche business). Hopefully this Buddha head emerging signals the renaissance of Howard street retail.
