Follow Me On Friday - Morse Gyros

Speedy Northside Food Delivery
Official Transporters For Morse Gyros

A few years ago it would've been foolhardy for the alderman to conduct a Follow Me On Friday at Morse Gyros. The Gangster Disciples used to control that corner as late as 2011. A lot has changed since the Morse Streetscape in 2010 and since Faisal Dossa took over Morse Gyros. The Brazers still tag the area to the south and east as late as last year. This writer holed up one day in JB Albertos after picking up take-out one summer day waiting for the cops to shoo away rival factions from both gangs away from their prospective corners. From experience it was learned not to get in between "a bullet and a target".

The Follow Me On Friday event will take place today at 5pm-7pm at Morse Gyros 1335 W Morse. The restaurant specializes in gyros and chicken continuing a tradition that goes back at least thirty years (since 1975) when it was started by Nino who has since moved on to greener pastures. Hopefully representatives from Speedy Northside Food Delivery will be there to show off their biking prowess. Having a bicycle delivery service is a great idea as delivery by bicycle makes more sense in the city. Getting around by bike means less carbon emissions, your food is delivered faster as they are more nimble and no need for finding parking.

A new day, with new happy neighborly feelings. "Wont you be my neighbor?" As Mr Rogers would say.

Take Mr. Trolley down to Morse Avenue and say hi to all your neighbors!

Let's all get together with the Alderman at Morse Gyros and do a big neighborly Kumbaya. Best behavior please! That means no name calling, cussing or cat fights, even if the delivery boy is predictably rude. (Adolescents aren't fully socialized and need to receive special consideration. They are also very sensitive at that stage of social development. Please be nice and smile a lot.)

Wasnt able to attend but heard it was well attended and was alot of fun. Wish I couldve gone

I was looking forward to meeting you, Jeff. The person who told you it was well-attended, whom I probably spoke to, was right. It was crowded. The bike boy was no where to be seen though the person you know thought bike boy might be someone else. I straightened her out.

Ah, Helen, I was there. I saw you in your pink outfit. You old hag. Stuffing free chicken in your purse to take home later. If you didn't live north of Howard - that would be considered low-brow.

You cheap old broad.

@ Craig, that is not happy neighborly feelings toward your fellow neighbor! :(. Let's let bygone be bygones.

It is isn't right to be rude to your customers Craig! :)

Yay Craig. Long live the Hellhole. Way to go Bro. Without your petty, cowardly bullying this would be a boringly nice neighborhood. Little NOH ladies are such easy targets. Bro that's classy...or is it trashy? Either way, yay Craig.

Well that was totes below the belt. Lets think about feelings and kindness.

Where was the smagical wannabe kickflipper last night? Busting crime on a Cease Fire Rogers Park secret mission?

So bike boy claims to have been there last night, huh? I guess he fled in terror out the back door when he saw me arrive. Or maybe he was cringing in terror on the floor behind the counter.

How do I find out about these events in advance?

Word on da street is he was sittin' on his phone re-tweetin' god-darned news from a couple days ago. Better than postin' pictures of nice ladies but ain't that helpful neither. kind of insane if ya's askin' me.
