Suspects In Jarvis Baseball Bat Beating Lived 0.4 Miles Away

Odds are if you almost kill or put someone in the hospital at your local bar you will get caught and put away for a long time. The possible culprits live only a seven minute walk away from where Michael Davis was beaten with a baseball bat the night of June 17th.   DNAinfo.com just published a report that the two men (Anthony Rudon 50 and Tremaine Gallimore 21) who are believed to be the perpetrators are in custody.

720 ILCS 5/12-3.05) (was 720 ILCS 5/12-4)
    Sec. 12-3.05. Aggravated battery.
    (a) Offense based on injury. A person commits aggravated battery when, in committing a battery, other than by the discharge of a firearm, he or she knowingly does any of the following:
        (1) Causes great bodily harm or permanent disability or disfigurement.

Many neighbors are breathing a huge sigh of relief. Those likely responsible for the heinous ambush of a great local guy are behind bars. A lot of money has been raised through various venues (Poitin Stil, Mayne Stage, Tow Bar etc.) And Michael Davis is walking and talking again after a long hospital stay and rehab.

The pair who have been charged with this crime reportedly live in 7600 block of North Sheridan. It could be a building that was part of the Menetti brothers portfolio (7645 N Sheridan). March of 2012 the five large distressed apartment buildings they owned were put up for sale.

"the Uptown buildings in the portfolio are at 4526 N. Sheridan Road and 1020 W. Lawrence Ave. Rogers Park properties are at 7645 N. Sheridan Road, 1246 W. Pratt Blvd. and 1673 W. Pratt Blvd."

One of them was Astor House which has been a local cause celebre of Occupy Rogers Park (trying to keep it as affordable housing) and the Lawrence House which has been a haven of vice and crime.

No specific address was released to the public but it will probably come out eventually. It is important that the general public know. Why? A troubled building probably contains more problems and maybe even building code violations. Only by knowing what is wrong can things be fixed or at least avoided in the near future.
