Featured above is the sign which alerts visitors that S & C Electric Company is just west of the Ravenswood Metra Viaduct. Below we see how the south entrance to this important local manufacturer.

Second in the city in fact according to DNAinfo.com (the first being the Ford plant in Hegewisch which recently manufactured the new cop car - the Interceptor)

DNAinfo.com in this article discusses the fact that a new four story building has broke ground inside their complex. This will be the tallest building in the compound and will be completed next year (2014).

The company, which pulls in $700 to $800 million a year, also builds equipment for solar panels and wind turbines that are used around the world.

Recently S & C's relay switch was blamed for a power outage in the last super bowl. Loyola Dispatch reprinted a Chicago Tribune article and then tweeted into onto rival DNAinfo.com's Twitter Feed. That was a major faux paus.

Since this local business plays a vital role in the region's economy it behooves us as a community to keep local signs legible so that everyone knows how to find them.
