Peckish One Microbrewery

Evanston Now published a report today regarding a possible brew pub at 623-627 w. Howard. The bar would be called the Peckish One. The potential proprietors run the Celtic Knot downtown. According to Evanston Now the interested parties will be meeting soon at the other city subsidized bar Ward 8 to discuss possible terms. If all goes well it could open as early as December first. For the full details please vist Evanston Now.

Here is the document regarding this deal from the city of Evanston dated February 20th 2013. In it describes in detail what the deal between the two parties would likely come to. It also states that the restaurant will be an American style pub and restaurant. Looking at the rendering there would be a inside bar with indoor seating, outdoor patio with performance stage and  microbrewery.

  1. Thanks for reporting on this. I live nearby and have been watching Howard starting to evolve. I know there are Evanston residents that oppose the use of Evanston tax revenue for another project like this, but I think this could be really good for the neighbirhood. Looking forward to hearing more.

  2. This is totes exciting! Howard needs businesses that attract people to the area. I diggin' the idea of a brew pub that uses organic grain mashes, too. Maybe they will.

  3. Hats off to Evanston and Alderman Rainey for their very proactive (with a plan) approach to business development along their side of Howard Street. I'm betting you won't see any fast food joints coming in as part of their plans!

  6. Happy for Howard St and all, but gov-funded booze joints seem like a little overboard, even to this RP lefty.

  7. Gov-funded booze tastes just as good to me as the other stuff. I got no problem with it.

  9. I think Evanston is just makin' up for all the dry years of old when they was a dang dry city. Poor fools never knew the good bite of a nice gosh dang scotch.

  10. Yes Evanston is making up for lost time, they finally discovered the money to be made off of alcohol.

The downtown is finally waking up too!
World of Beer just opened up downtown at Fountain Square and they are finally getting some decent restaurants.
